Calmer Shores Counselling Explained
Welcome to my website. I'm Padraic, an Integrative Counsellor and the owner of Calmer Shores Counselling, which is located in Mid-Ulster. I work very much on a level and have a lot of experience working with young people and adults from all backgrounds. I use a variety of methods in my work, but everything that we do will be tailored around you. You are central as we take this journey of healing together. As well as the traditional one to one counselling, I provide Online Counselling to clients right across the world. If Online Counselling is of interest to you, please see the section dedicated to Online Counselling in the tab above.
I use a lot of different therapeutic techniques which I have learned either academically or in life. I could list all the techniques, but I believe, irrespective of the counselling approach we use, the most important thing is the therapeutic relationship (how you and I get along). This is key to successful counselling.
I am here to walk with you, to listen intently to you and help piece together all parts of your story to give you the the tools to make you happy, resilient and in control of your life.
If you are experiencing difficulties, making that first call or sending that first text can feel challenging, or even scary and overwhelming. If you are able to make that first step by contacting me, from that first contact I will provide a caring, safe, friendly, respectful and positive environment for you. In this journey, all you need to be is you. There won't be any judgements, expectations or pressures placed upon you.
I work with individuals on a one on one or online basis with a broad range of mental health concerns such as anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues, stress, depression, abuse, work problems, low self esteem etc. I hold a Degree in Integrative Counselling from the University of Ulster. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I also work in secondary schools counselling young people aged 11-18 on a one to one level and work within primary schools delivering a programme I have developed specifically to help children learn good strategies to help with stress or anxiety. I am here to hear you and to walk the path along side you. I offer an empathic and a non judgemental space for individuals seeking to make changes in their lives.
Millions of working days are lost each year to poor mental health. Positive mental health at work has never been more important, both for the employers and the employees. I have worked with a number of large corporate companies in both the UK and Ireland. I deliver bespoke programmes to help companies address their workers needs. I am passionate about the needs of individuals in today's working world.
I deliver bespoke programmes such as my self developed "Emotions In Motion" programme, to a variety of groups to build resilience, self-esteem and increase mental well being. Using a variety of techniques such as arts and crafts, music and mindfulness, I help to cultivate an environment that aids growth and development of the attendees.
This programme is run by myself in a variety of Primary schools and in partnership with other Organisations. Emotions in Motion (C) helps children and young people to explore the variety of emotions and feelings they experience on a day to day basis. Using creative tools to help them navigate the complexity of their feelings.
My programme is fun with learning and empowers the participants to build resilience, confidence and happiness. This can be delivered on a one to one or group basis.
Feedback on the programme has been hugely positive from both participants and their parents.
"I can't recommend Padraic enough, he has helped me through the worst year of my life and the grieving process. He has done for me what many others couldn't and that was give me hope and an understanding ear. Thank you so much for your help"
"Welcoming, friendly and understanding, I couldn't recommend Padraic enough"
"Having made the decision to talk to somebody, but living in a country where this service is not readily available, I opted for online 'face to face' sessions. I cannot recommend this man highly enough. Wherever you are, he is there for you and it feels like you are there, but you are in the comfort of your own home. If you don't live close and have been considering online therapy, please go for it. You won't look back, only forwards to your future."
I am writing this review on behalf of my son . He is 18 with severe learning difficulties, autism and psychosis.
He was very anxious distressed and troubled mentally at the beginning of the new year. We were struggling to get him help. I seen the service Padraic provided on Facebook and contacted him for advice and help. He contacted me back almost immediately and has helped our son so much. He talks to him about films and programmes and music etc trying to learn about him in all different ways.
He has used lots of different things at their sessions and built up a brilliant relationship with him. Our son looks forward to seeing him and Padraic has given him coping techniques at home which he uses daily and they really are working.
We can not thank him enough for his help support and advice. We are so grateful. Please if you need help do not hesitate to contact Calmer Shores Padraic will really help you.
Today I had my first 'Walk & Talk' session & can definitely say for me it beats sitting in a room. The fresh air plus the exercise makes it a much better experience. I enjoyed today and thought it was great and will definitely do it again. I would highly recommend ‘Walk & Talk’ with Padraic.
